Singapore's hopes of qualifying for the 2006 AFC Youth Championship in India took a blow with a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Thailand on Wednesday.Against a Thai side full of flair and exuberance, the Cubs were left to look leaden-footed despite their continous toil and spadework at the Jalan Besar Stadium. The visitors struck the lead just 10 minutes into the game, as Zaiful Nizam spilled Chainarong Tatong's low effort, the ball ricocheting into goal off the thigh of the unfortunate keeper-captain.They went 2-0 up at the stroke of half-time as Anawin Jujeen took advantage of some hesitant defending in the home backline to slot past Zaiful. The Cubs' chances went from dim to ebon in the 61st minute, as defender Azmi Ahmad was shown his second yellow card and given his marching orders.
